【摘要】:Theabilityofarefractoryshapestowithstandprescribedloadsatelevatedtemperaturesisameasureofthehigh-temperatureservicepotentialofthematerial.Bydefinition,refractoryshapesmustresistchangeduetohightemperature;andtheabilitytowithstanddeformationorshapechangewhensubjectedtosignificantloadingatelevatedtemperaturesisclearlydemonstratedwhenrefractoryshapesaresubjectedtothistestmethod.Thetestmethodisnormallyrunatsufficientlyhightemperaturetoallowsomeliquidstoformwithinthetestbrickortocauseweakeningofthebondingsystem.Theresultisusuallyadecreaseinsampledimensionparalleltotheappliedloadandincreaseinsampledimensionsperpendiculartotheloadingdirection.Occasionally,shearfracturecanoccur.Sincethetestprovideseasilymeasurablechangesindimensions,prescribedlimitscanbeestablished,andthetestmethodhasbeenlongusedtodeterminerefractoryquality.Thetestmethodhasoftenbeenusedintheestablishmentofwrittenspecificationsbetweenproducersandconsumers.Thistestmethodisnotapplicableforrefractorymaterialsthatareunstableinanoxidizingatmosphereunlessmeansareprovidedtoprotectthespecimens.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheresistancetodeformationorshearofrefractoryshapeswhensubjectedtoaspecifiedcompressiveloadataspecifiedtemperatureforaspecifiedtime.1.2Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
