【摘要】:Inordertoobtainmeaningfulanalyticaldata,samplepreservationtechniquesmustbeeffectivefromthetimeofsamplecollectiontothetimeofanalysis.Alaboratorymustconfirmthatsampleintegrityismaintainedthroughoutmaximumtimeperiodsbetweensamplecollectionandanalysis.Inmanycases,itisusefultoknowthemaximumholdingtime.Anevaluationofholdingtimeisusefulalsoinjudgingtheefficacyofvariouspreservationtechniques.1.1Thispracticecoversthemeansofestimatingtheperiodoftimeduringwhichawatersamplecanbestoredaftercollectionandpreservationwithoutsignificantlyaffectingtheaccuracyofanalysis.1.2Themaximumholdingtimeisdependentuponthematrixusedandthespecificanalyteofinterest.Therefore,watersamplesfromaspecificsourcemustbetestedtodeterminetheperiodoftimethatsampleintegrityismaintainedbystandardpreservationpractices.1.3Intheeventthatitisnotpossibletoanalyzethesampleimmediatelyatthetimeofcollection,thispracticedoesnotprovideinformationregardingdegradationoftheconstituentofinterestorchangesinthematrixthatmayoccurfromthetimeofsamplecollectiontothetimeoftheinitialanalysis.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
